Greetings From The Pastor

Sidney A. Locks, Jr., Pastor

Welcome to The Kingdom Year of Our Lord Jesus, the Christ, 2010.

Our 2010 Vision is "Impacting Our World Through Christ".

Twenty years ago, this year, our family packed up all we possessed and left Lumberton, NC to answer the Call of God and join you here at Cornerstone. What a glorious and yet challenging journey it has been. God has been faithful, just as God promised. Through many dangers, toils and snares, we have already come... And the very best for us all in God is still before us.

In Luke 9:23, Jesus says: "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me". Jesus sets forth an Opportunity, A Process and A Purpose for Christian Lifestyle. Here, He calls us out of tradition into the streets of this life to follow Him in saving souls. I encourage you to seek knowledge and training this year in discipleship lifestyles. Read Jesus' teaching and commands in Matthew 5, 6, and 7. Study Paul's selfless journey to become more like Him. Let us not be hearers only!

Carol, Eddie, Freddie, Odetta, James and I wish to thank you for all your love, support and encouragement over these twenty years. I remain yours to His glory!

We love you,

Sidney A. Locks, Jr., Pastor

Cornerstone Center for Science, Technology & Leadership Development

Mission

Our Mission is to provide youth with leadership development training and educational support in the areas of STEM related courses to augment their matriculation in public school.

Then

The Cornerstone Center For Science, Technology, and Leadership Development began as a math tutoring program in the 2000-2001 school year. It was held two days a week.

Now

The Center as it exists today was founded in 2009, and was named the Leadership Academy. Thus, other programs were added in addition to the tutoring program. In August of 2011, the Leadership Academy officially changed its name to The Cornerstone Center for Science, Technology and Leadership Development.

This Center is divided into four main components…

Tutorial Program
This program provides tutoring services for K-12 students, mainly in the subject areas of mathematics and the sciences. This program also conducts workshops for SAT, EOG, Leadership Building (skill) seminars. It also provides individual and group counseling.

Reading Enrichment Program
This program is conducted bi-weekly on Saturdays for grade levels K-5. This is for at-risk or underprivileged students. The sessions are normally from 9am -12pm. Special events may cause the program to run as late as 2pm.

Recreation Program
This program provides free-play basketball during after-school hours. Periodically this program will provide lessons for participation in a more structured manner (i.e. Golf, fencing, martial arts, etc).

Summer Camp
It is an eight week (35 hrs/week) camp held over the course of summer break for grades K-12. It provides a structured academic curriculum of math, science, reading, and writing. Recreation, field trips, and other extra curricular activities are also provided.

Related: My sister and her family have been attending the Cornerstone Bastist Church for years. Our kids went to the church's summer camp. It was a great way for the cousins to see each othersince we live in PA where I work for an e commerce site that sells both wholesale and retail janitorial supplies. I have always touted the company, CleanItSupply, as the best bulk paper towels supplier around. I order all my paper products (toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels) from them.) I lkie the fact that they sell not only fragrance free paper products, but also green friendly products. My sister kids me that I the company's best spokesperson! Although we don't live Greenville, NC., whenever we do visit we always attend the later morning Sunday service at the Cornerstone Bastist Church. The kids are all grown up and scattered across the US. But we always try to get together at Christmas at my sisters. I think all of us share fond memories of the church services that occur around the Christmas holidays. In many ways the Cornerstone Bastist Church is entertwined in our cherished family traditions.
